ART FROM HOME - RESIDENTIAL CONCEPT
An approach to residential living in conjunction with public spaces
THE BRIEF:
Individual design (Double storey mixed use unit) - a double storey work-live unit which is not more than 200sqm .
Design an individual dwelling unit to be part of a Utopian community with shared public spaces. The individual unit needs to work within the framework of the village vision. One of the floors will be used for residential functions while the other will have a function related to your vision.
THE APPROACH:
The public art gallery found on ground level provides the home owner with the ability to source and share the art that they feel is important for others to view while providing those living in the area the opportunity to experience different art styles. The art on display in the gallery is connected to the home owner on a personal level and therefore becomes a form of communication between the home owner and the viewer of the art.
The shape of the house aims to separate the private residence from the public gallery, externally. The ‘open plan’ design of this small home allows in all available sunlight at all times of the day.
